Fatal Collision in Interbay Under Investigation by Seattle Police
Seattle police are investigating a deadly crash that occurred late Tuesday night in the Interbay neighborhood. The collision happened around 11:20 p.m. at the intersection of 15th Avenue West and West Newton Street, involving a motorcycle and a pedestrian.
When officers arrived at the scene, they found a 32-year-old male motorcyclist critically injured in the roadway. Despite life-saving efforts by Seattle Fire Department medics, the man was pronounced dead at the scene. A female pedestrian who had also been struck was transported to Harborview Medical Center and remains in serious condition
Witnesses reported that the motorcyclist was traveling northbound on 15th Avenue West at a high rate of speed when he struck the woman, who was crossing the street westbound after exiting a transit bus
The impact caused significant injuries to both individuals.
Detectives from the Traffic Collision Investigation Squad responded to the scene and are conducting a full investigation. The area around 15th Avenue West and West Newton Street was shut down overnight to allow for evidence collection and scene reconstruction. Police have asked the public to avoid the area while the investigation continues.
